MRL Comic Con

On Saturday May 6, we will be having our first ever Comic Book convention. We are very excited to offer this event and hope that everyone reading this comes to the library to enjoy a special day filled with several guest speakers and free comics! The event is free and open to the public. All ages are encouraged to stop by at 2:00 PM to listen to John K. Snyder III, a graphic illustrator who worked for DC comics in the 1980s. Mr. Snyder will be sharing stories from his career as an artist in the field and will take questions from the audience. There will be a limited number of comics available that Mr. Snyder illustrated, and he will be signing them for those that are interested. Snyder’s fans are encouraged to bring personal copies for signing as well.

At 1:00 PM we will be offering the unique lecture “LARPing Demystified” by Silverdain. This talk will focus on the phenomenon known as LARPing (Live Action Role Playing), and the audience will be able to ask questions regarding this popular hobby.

Massanutten Regional Library will be providing hundreds of FREE comics on Saturday. The comic books will appeal to all ages, so please come to the library and find some great comic books—there will be plenty! We will be giving out free comics in the Community Youth Center on the second floor of the library while supplies last.

In addition to the great speakers and comics, there will be Superhero Crafts for everyone to enjoy, a photo booth to capture all of the excitement, and a special “Superhero Training Center” where patrons can learn top secret tricks and master superhero skills!

And finally, the Secret Lair comic book store will be on hand. Patrons are encouraged to stop by and see all of the great books and games the store offers.

Again, this event is free and open to the public. We plan to start at 1:00 p.m. and run through 3:00. Please try to come early to participate in all the events. Free comics books will be offered until supplies run out.
