Village Library Prepares for Move
Massanutten Regional Library announces its Village Library Branch, 113 S. Central Street, Broadway, will be closing January 25, 26, 27, 28 for the moving of library materials, equipment, and resources to its new location at 175 N. Main in Broadway. MRL plans to open its new Village Library Branch on Tuesday, January 29, 10 AM. A special grand opening celebration is planned for later in the spring.
“The Village Library expansion project has been on the drawing board for more than five years. What a wonderful sense of accomplishment knowing that the actual move is just weeks away! We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the Town of Broadway for helping us provide this valuable resource to our customers in the northern Rockingham County area,” says Lois Jones, Library Director, Massanutten Regional Library.
“We are excited about our upcoming move to Main Street! The new facility will more than double our space and will allow us to offer more materials to better serve our patrons. The new location will also provide additional reading and studying spaces. We look forward to serving both old and new patrons for years to come,” states Barbara Andes, Branch Manager for Village Library.
The new Broadway-Timberville Branch will open despite the fact that the fund-raising drive is not complete.
“We have had wonderful support so far from individuals, civic groups, businesses, the Town of Broadway and the Friends of Village Library. We still need to raise $105,000 toward this $300,000 project. Our fundraising will continue until we reach the goal. Village Library serves all of northern Rockingham County, and we simply could not pass up this chance to expand. We will continue raising funds until we can pay off the construction costs,” says Kim Haines, Development Director for MRL.
In case bad weather cancels the Jan. 25-28 closing dates, MRL will reschedule the Village Library closing dates to February 1-4.
