Master Gardeners To Visit MRL Main as Advisors

3/27/2013
With spring weather comes gardening chores, and Massanutten Regional Library has a new resource for gardeners.

The Central Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association will be on hand at Massanutten Regional Library Main April 2-15 at various times to answer gardening/landscaping questions.  The group, sponsored by Virginia Cooperative Extension, will also sell various summer bulbs for MRL with the library system receiving fifty percent of all sales.  The group will also advise patrons on how to plant the bulbs.

MRL Reference Librarian Cheryl Metz has also prepared a gardening brochure with a catalog of gardening books available throughout the MRL system. Library patrons can pick up a gardening brochure at one of the seven locations of Massanutten Regional Library.

The public is encouraged to check with the Master Gardeners for gardening advice, and group members will be at MRL Main on the following dates and times:

Tuesday April 2 10 AM - 2 PM
Wednesday April 3 5 - 8 PM
Thursday April 4 10 AM - 2 PM
Saturday April 6 1 - 3 PM
Tuesday April 9 10 AM - 2 PM
Wednesday April 10 5 - 8 PM
Thursday April 11 10 AM - 2 PM
Saturday April 13 1 - 3 PM
Monday April 15 10 AM - 2 PM

Patrons will be able to purchase summer bulbs from the Flower Power Company and the bulbs will be delivered right to the patrons’ doors.  Buyers can select from an assortment of bulbs including various lilies, hostas, dahlias, gladiolus, anemones, bleeding hearts, balloonflowers, strawberry plants, and peonies.  Master Gardener members and other library volunteers will be on hand to take orders.

"Realizing the wonderful service that the Massanutten Regional Library System provides for our community, the Central Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association is happy and honored to partner with them to help support the sale of summer bulbs April 2-15.  An important part of our purpose is to educate the public in appropriate horticultural practices and members of our association will be present at the library to not only participate in this fundraiser but to also offer gardening advice,” states Rudy Smith, President of the Central Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association.
