MRL Main to Serve As Photo Scanning Location for DNR

Massanutten Regional Library Main is a scanning photo location for the upcoming Through the Daily News-Record’s Lens, a project for the newspaper meant to capture Harrisonburg and Rockingham County life and history through photographs and historic front pages of the hometown newspaper. In celebration of the 100 anniversary of the Daily News Record, the newspaper is asking area citizens to bring photos from 1913-present to be scanned so that they might be included in the book.

There will be three scanning sessions. The first scanning date is at the Massanutten Regional Main Library Tuesday, May 21, from 3:30-7:30 pm in the meeting room. Area citizens are encouraged to bring photos that depict commerce, industry, transportation, rural life, or public service during the last 100 years. Photos should be original and taken in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. There is a limit of 10 photos per family and one submission form per photo is required. Photo submission forms can be picked up at the Daily News Record office at 231 South Liberty Street or downloaded at dnr.pictorialbook.com. Private collectors with a sizable collection are asked to call 360-687-6731 for appointment times.
Other scanning locations and schedules include The Heritage Museum, 382 High Street, Dayton, 10-1 pm on Wednesday, May 22 and Saturday, May 25.
