2012 Adult Summer Reading Program

For the second year in a row the Massanutten Regional Library Main Branch will not only offer a Summer Reading Program for children, but one for those who are young at heart as well.

The 2012 Adult Summer Reading Program will kick-off on June 11th at 1 pm with a special program featuring guest speaker Charles Welsh.  Mr. Welsh will share excerpts from his book “Treasures from the Attic: My Father’s Letters.”  The letters contained in the book share stories of his father’s time during World War II.  The afternoon will also consist of door prizes and refreshments provided by Panera Bread of Harrisonburg.

The program will continue each Monday at 1 pm in the library meeting rooms focusing on a different genre or author.

  • June 18th: Science-Fiction with special guest speaker Dr. Raymond Schneider
  • June 25th: Mysteries! Choose a side – Brits vs. the Yank Detectives: Defend your choice!
  • July 16th: C.S. Lewis – His Other Works with special guest speaker
    Dr. Raymond Schneider
  • July 23rd: Happy 200th Birthday – Let’s discuss Charles Dickens’ works
  • July 30th: Poetry: The Forgotten Language – Bring your own or a favorite to read

Participants are encouraged to read a selection related to the genre or author discussed each week for intellectual interchange.
